Fortemedia will Demonstrate ForteVoice? iS600 on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor-Enabled QDSP Platform for Smartphones and Tablets at Qualcomm’s Uplinq? 2013

Sunnyvale, CA. (August 29, 2013) – Today, Fortemedia Inc. (, the leader in voice processing technology, announced that it will present and showcase its latest multi-microphone technology at Qualcomm’s Uplinq? 2013 wireless ecosystem conference, which will be held Sept. 3-5, 2013 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. As Qualcomm’s annual conference, Uplinq provides a cross-platform view of how to exploit the powerful capabilities of today’s leading mobile devices to produce the most compelling user experiences and cultivate the business connections essential to be successful in mobile. Fortemedia will be located in booth #215.

Based on Fortemedia’s advanced beam forming technologies, smartphone users now have the ability to use their phones in a more natural way for both handset and hands-free modes. By utilizing two or more microphones that form a “beam” to suppress outside noise, smartphone users can now enjoy much-improved voice quality, even in a crowded restaurant or high traffic environment. The latest technology adds new features such as voice tracking and voice zoom that allow a beam to track the person speaking. This is best used when the phone is in speaker mode, on a desk or sits on a car dashboard cradle. Fortemedia’s solutions have been adopted and shipped in more than 30 models of devices from leading smartphones, tablets and ultrabook ODMs today.

This level of high-performance voice processing technology was supported by a stand-alone DSP in the past. However, with this new development, it is now available on Qualcomm? Snapdragon? processors. The new approach with iS600 also allows for lower power consumption, a smaller footprint, flexible features and lower DSP silicon cost.

“iS600 is the breakthrough voice processing technology that helps phone ODMs achieve lower cost, lower power consumption and provides increased flexibility in phone designs without compromising performance. At the same time, it inherently improves voice quality to help support features such as voice recognition in noisy environments,” said Dr. Paul Huang, Chairman and CEO of Fortemedia. “We are excited to work with the Qualcomm Hexagon DSP team to bring this solution to customers and provide phone ODMs with a better voice processing choice.”

iS600 is now available for selected phone and tablet customers and has been considered by several leading ODMs for their next generation of devices.
