Fortemedia voice processing now available on Wolfson's industry-leading Audio DSP platform

Edinburgh, UK, 6th November 2013 – Wolfson Microelectronics plc, a global leader in the design and development of mixed-signal semiconductor devices and audio solutions for consumer electronic products, and Fortemedia Inc., a leader in voice processing technology, have today announced that Fortemedia’s ForteVoice? software is now available on Wolfson’s industry-leading Audio Digital Signal Processor (ADSP) platform

Wolfson’s partnership with Fortemedia brings innovative new experiences to smartphone and tablet manufacturers and users, utilising Fortemedia’s advanced multi-microphone voice processing technology.

Increasingly, consumers are using their devices in hands-free, or speakerphone mode, in noisy environments, and Fortemedia delivers industry-leading performance in such circumstances, using two or more concurrent microphones. This technology enables seamless voice communication in many challenging real life situations, suppressing external noise to enable natural voice call conversations, whether the user is in a car, a busy street or a crowded restaurant.

Wolfson’s ADSP family of HD Audio Hubs provide exceptional signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and a range of processing options (up to a blazingly fast 600 MIPS of processing power) while only requiring 4mW DAC to headphone power consumption, making it the lowest power HD audio solution on the market. With the ability to run Wolfson's suite of sound enhancing and noise reduction software, customers' own software or third party software, such as Fortemedia’s ForteVoice?, mobile device manufacturers can easily create a unique audio signature that will help differentiate their product in the marketplace, delivering a truly platform agnostic and future-proof system.

“ForteVoice? has been the voice processing solution of choice for many of our customers who have been asking for Fortemedia’s solution to be available on Wolfson’s HD Audio Hubs”, commented Eddie Sinnott, VP of Portfolio, Strategy and Marketing at Wolfson Microelectronics. “Fortemedia is a very welcome addition to Wolfson’s Partner Programme and we are delighted that our partnership allows smart device manufacturers to combine Fortemedia’s leading voice processing solution with Wolfson’s powerful Audio Hub to deliver outstanding audio experiences to consumers.”

Kishore Moturi, VP of Business Development at Fortemedia, said: “This partnership is a reflection of the market adoption of Wolfson’s ultra-low power Audio Hubs, and is a response to demand from our customers. This announcement gives our customers greater flexibility to apply Fortemedia’s leading-edge voice processing solutions across their product range.”
